Thank you for your support =)

Dear Friends and Family:

Well it’s been awhile since I’ve been back from my Medical Missions trip to Mongolia.  To be exact, 19 days…A lot has been going on in my head since my return…Did I get what I thought I was looking for?  Was I transformed?  What was my overall opinion of my experience?...to name a few…

I think I’m still slowly processing…Getting back to America, I’ve been non-stop with catching up…Work, seminars, volunteering, establishing and developing new businesses, training and auditioning as an actor…Whew!

Some say it’s good to stay busy…My life does not feel well balanced right now though…I’m not working out, socializing, and going to church…Suffice it to say, this has caused me to be a little snappy and grouchy…I know that this experience overall was a great experience…I guess I just wanted to see immediate Transformation…I’m realizing now that it’s a process and I’m looking forward to how it will manifest…I know that I’m playing a different game in Life and it’s a game worth playing…Stay tuned for my continual Transformation!  It’s going to ROCK!!!

I was touched by the people of Mongolia…Even though it is an impoverished Nation, the people of Mongolia have a spirit about them…yes there is a 50% unemployment rate and for most the living conditions are questionable…However, their loving nature, their beautiful smiles and their thirst for learning inspired me greatly…I was left touched, motivated and inspired by them and I left Mongolia with a softer heart for humanity and a wisdom I will cherish forever.

I just want to thank you for your support….Your thoughtfulness means so much to me.

God Bless you =)

Warmly,

Marvin

Support Letter for my Short-term Missions to Mongolia

Hey Guys and Gals!

So its official!  Im heading to

Mongolia

in early October.  The Motherland of my Motherland,

Korea

(I have been told that Koreans originated from this region of the world).

l         Landlocked in-between the

Russian Federation

, and

China

,

Mongolia

has 2.3 million people and one of the lowest population densities in the world. 1.5 inhabitants per 1 sq.km. 85% Mongol, mostly Khalkha Mongol. 7% Turkic (mainly Kazakh), 4.6% Tungusic and 3.4% other groups.  Four million Mongols live outside

Mongolia

.
94% of Mongolians are Tibetan Buddhist Lamas, with elements of Shamanism and 6% Muslim (mainly in the south- west).  Christianity is basically non-existent.

I have never considered being involved in a

Mission

.  In all honesty, when I was presented with this opportunity I had much resistance.

Where am I going to find the time to do something like this?

I realized that this would always be a persistent complaint and that I just had to trust in the Lord and commit myself.  Its not often that youre given the opportunity to go to an amazing region of the world such as

Mongolia

and serve the Lord by helping others physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Who am I to go on a Missions trip?

I was convincing myself that I wasnt qualified to go.  Im not a pastor, missionary, spiritual leader etc.  Even though Im a Born Again Christian, I am so inconsistent with my spiritual walk.  So inconsistent that Im sure there are others as well that would question my faith and my participation in this short-term mission, let alone my participation in church.  Through this, it really helped me realize my need for salvation through Jesus Christ.  I am Human.  I am not perfect.  I am a sinnerbutI am still accepted, loved and blessed through the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.  I am thankful for my salvation.  I am thankful for this opportunity to serve the Lord in this capacity for I know that I will be blessed as we serve the people of

Mongolia

.

I will be part of a Medical team which is comprised of a Podiatrist, Internist, Dentist, Pharmacist, Nurse, Accountant and of course me, the Chiropractor.  We will be joining the full time commissioned missionaries there from

Young

Nak

Celebration

Church

and providing Healthcare services across the country.

I need 10 prayer partners to support myself and my team.  Just like Jesus was supported by his 12 disciples I feel that the prayer support of my friends and family is critical for the success of this mission.  The total cost of the trip is approximately $2,500 per team member. This does not include the cost of all our supplies.  Im asking you to support our cause financially as well.  If youve received this letter, youre someone I not only respect but feel that am blessed to have in my life.  Thank you for joining me in prayer and your contributions.

I am inventing for myself and my life the possibility of being Selfless, Contributing and Blessings.

In Good Health and Love,  Marvin Christian Lee

For the past fifteen years, APEX has strived to be the premier membership organization for Asian Pacific Islander Americans in Southern California. Deeply committed to excellence in professional development, community service, and cultural awareness, the APEX Board and its members have had a lasting positive impact on the community through its programs and events. As an all-volunteer organization, APEX has seen many dedicated people contribute to its success since 1993, and in September 2008, APEX will pay tribute to them at the 15th Annual APEX Awards Gala: Aspire to Inspire.

On September 27, 2008, the APIA community will come together to celebrate the 15th Annual APEX Awards Gala. Celebrating APEX's 15th Year Anniversary, the Gala is not only a celebration of APEX and the communities' current accomplishments, but it is a reflection of what the organization has meant to the lives of many in the Southern California region.

I recently contacted the LPGA in regards to their English proficiency requirements...

I recently contacted the LPGA in regards to their English proficiency requirements for all members. Without any standardized testing implemented, which means it's all subjective, the LPGA has the right to suspend and disallow any member of the LPGA from participating in any and all tournaments, due to the lack of their English skills...They feel that without a proficient handle in the English language, these players will hurt the "Entertainment" value of the LPGA. The following is their response:

From: LPGA Commissioner Carolyn F. Bivens
Date: Sept. 2, 2008
Subj: LPGA overview regarding the effective communication in English policy
________________________________________________________________________________
A great deal has been written this past week about the LPGA’s initiative to help members attain minimal English
language skills. For those of you who want more details and background, please go to
http://www.lpga.com/content_1.aspx?pid=17137&mid=4 where you will find an extensive overview.

Please feel free to respond and offer comments.

Let's start with a key point of clarity: we are not suggesting, nor will we implement, an “English only” policy. The
LPGA does not, nor will we ever, require English fluency, or even proficiency, from our international players.
As a U.S.-based tour, more than 65% of our events are held in our home country. For those events, we need our
members to attain a level of communication in English so they can:

     A. deliver an enjoyable experience in the pro-am events at tournaments, which are the lifeblood of the
           LPGA business model;
     B. conduct their post-round interviews in English for the media; and
     C. deliver a short acceptance speech after winning an event.

None of this is new. The LPGA has had a program for more than three years whereby we dedicate substantial
resources for the transition and education of our international members. This program includes an on-line learning
program, tutors and translators with the expressed goal being a functional ability to communicate in English within two
years after an international member has joined the LPGA.

The aspect which is new and received the vast majority of coverage last week is the penalty, which would be assessed
after two years if a player didn’t achieve the minimal ability to communicate in English. We do not view this as punitive
but rather as underscoring the importance of a core value on which the LPGA was founded: engaging and entertaining
our customers and fans. Without this most basic ability to entertain our customers, we will not maintain the current
levels of events much less grow. Nor will our international members have the skills necessary to maximize their
individual earnings potential by being able to communicate with prospective sponsors.

I’d like to offer a brief word about our events outside the United States. As part of our Board-approved strategic plan,
we are producing cultural briefings for each tournament beginning this fall. Among items shared with members will be
key phrases for communicating in the native language of the country in which the event is held. Additionally, we have a
number of members already using our on-line language services to learn other languages.

I believe as do the majority of our domestic and international members, the program we have implemented will benefit
the LPGA and every Tour member individually. Please feel free to send us your thoughts and comments.

Best regards,
Carolyn F. Bivens

Medical Missions to Mongolia

I am preparing for a Medical Mission to Mongolia. After much deliberation, I finally made the commitment a few weeks back to go and serve. I can't speak for anyone else, but I had such a persistent complaint about the lack of time and how much I had on my plate. "How can I just drop everything and leave?" I realized that this would always be an issue and that sometimes you have to trust that all will be taken care of. Most of us live our lives with such restrictions and limit ourselves to what we do in life, from our careers, to our goals, dreams, aspirations, relationships etc. I'm the worst at this...Worrying about the future, when it hasn't even happened...creating stories in our head that aren't even true...worrying about what other people think of you..."Avoiding looking bad or trying to look good!"...I am inventing for myself and my life the possibility of beig selfless, contributing and being blessed!...I didn't realize the amount of preparation needed in a Missions trip...Issues of Spiritual formation, reconciliation with others, being vulnerable with your fellow team mates, logistics, physical training etc....It's all very exciting...we're about 4-5 weeks out before we depart...time seems short, but I have faith that all will be handled...we have such a great team assembled...a few have had experience with Short Term Missions and have great input into making this trip an amazing experience for first timers like myself...Today at training we had to share our Lifelines...Significant periods in our lives and where we were spiritually in those moments....I was the first to go and felt that I needed to set the tone for the others...I felt that it was important to allow myself to be vulnerable and really share openly....Each and every team member was so attentive and I appreciated and acknowledge their listening and support...I am so blessed to be a part of this community...I know that through this experience I will be transformed....

Children and Psychiatric Drugs

In the US today, more than 6 million children have been put on mind-altering psychiatric drugs for the learning and behavioural state called "ADHD".

In 2002, the Netherlands Advertising Commission ordered the country's "Brain Institute" to stop falsely advertising ADHD as a neurobiological or genetic disorder because no scientific evidence exists to prove this.  The US National Institutes of Health concluded, "our knowledge about the cause or causes of ADHD remains largely speculative."

An examination of the statistics listed above reveal the alarming rate at which children are being medicated for mental disorders.

Personally, if they had this diagnosis and medications back when I was a child I would have been heavily medicated!...Thank God they didn't...

Try controlling hyperactivity through diet, excercise, biofeedback, chiropractic...Medications should be the very last resort...

Healthy Habits...

When stress and strain may be at their peak, the Amercan Chiropractic Association offers some advice for staying healthy.

  1. Stay hydrated:  Coffee, tea, soft drinks and alcohol are dehydrators, so remember to replinish your body with at least 8 x 8 oz. glasses of water a day.  Your body's 70% water!
  2. Stay active:  Stress causes muscles to tighten so remember get up and stay moving.
  3. Stay comfortable:  Wear comfortable shoes.
  4. Take breaks and eat right:  Recharging yourself is vital.

Till next time, God Bless and be healthy!
